1. What is the average cost of creating an attractive video?

Costs depend on how clear you are about your ideas of what kind of video you want to produce. You’ll need to have an idea about what your intended audience is looking for. It also helps to find examples of videos you want to emulate. Do you have a script? Will your video have someone speaking on camera, or will you use a narrator? Will this “talent” be someone from your company or an actor/voice-over talent? Perhaps you’ll use text and graphics instead of a narrator to get your information across. These are all things that need to be decided before any production house can estimate how much it will cost to produce the video.

2. How much will it actually cost to produce this?

The more you polish your ideas in pre-production, the easier it will be to keep the costs within your budget. Changing your mind about the message, script, graphics, etc., after production starts will increase the costs and the time it takes to finish the video. Knowing exactly what your message is and how you want to get that information across will save you real money in the production of the video.

3. How will my video be delivered?

Will it be a “full frame” video on YouTube or other similar sites? Will it be for social media? Will it be a banner ad? Each one of these types of videos requires a different pixel resolution and encoding. If you produce a video specifically for social media, it’s not possible to use that same format for YouTube. It’s essential to know where the video will be uploaded prior to creating it.

4. How long will this video take to complete?

There are so many factors in the production phase that can create delays and unexpected costs. And in post-production, “fixing” things that were not captured correctly or adding new elements can all add to the turnaround time. Consider the “pick two” option from the “you can have it quick,” “you can make it quality,” or “you can make affordable” choices. If you need it quickly, you’ll need to sacrifice one of the “affordability” or “quality” options. Of course, no one wants to sacrifice “quality,” yet if you need it “quickly,” it will cost more. If you want “affordability” and “quality,” then it’s going to take more time.

I can not stress enough that a lot of this can be worked out during pre-production, so you don’t waste money and time by changing your mind about the video once we have started production and are halfway through the process.
